Basket Weaving, Ceramics
140 Van Dyke Rd.,
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa., where I earned my bachelors of fine arts degree at Carnegie Melon University in 1968. After graduation, my husband, Tom, and I served for 2 years in the Peace Corps in Colombia, South America, where I taught art classes at the Universidad de Antiochia. Upon returning to the US, I continued studying art at the Tyler School of Art, and enjoyed a 25-year career as an elementary art teacher in the Pennsbury School District. During that time, I’ve enjoyed making pottery and weaving baskets, and selling my crafts at local art fairs and shows. Since retiring from public school in 1999, I’ve been able to devote more time to my crafts, and have found the time to return to oil painting again as well.My studio is in my home on a small farm in Hopewell Township, where my husband and I share our lives with our dogs, horses, goats and sheep. Our animals and the beautiful natural surroundings often offer inspiration for my work.
